Trip to the National Orchid Garden

Yesterday was Little B’s birthday. We spent the whole afternoon out at the Botanic Gardens pushing her about in her tricycle. She had great fun. Hehe.. Probably because of our upcoming National Day, admission to the National Orchid Garden was free!! (this orchid, the Vanda Miss Joaquim is our national flower.)

We originally wanted to go to Gardens by the Bay but reviews were not too favorable… Seems it would be better to go in the next couple of years when the trees and plants have grown taller and more bountiful… Anyway, here are the many pretty flowers at the Orchid Garden. This is a great place to go to if you’re into floral photography(which I’m not, as you can tell, by the tiny images used to cover up my lack of skill, hehe)

A few signs caught my eye… “keep our trees healthy by not engraving on them”. And there you see, the poor tree covered with scratches and carvings… I wonder if having the sign there made it worse. I mean, engraving the tree didn’t cross my mind till I saw the sign.:p and “no walking barefoot” or “no picking flowers”… I don’t see any flowers in that patch… Hmm..

Some of the non-orchids…

And more orchids…

This black one with long “tentacles” is quite interesting…

Think I liked this patchy orchid…

And this stripey, dotted one best.

Kinda looks like a pitcher plant hybrid, don’t you think?
